How to Thread Eyebrows
Eyebrow shaping for the most of us means waxing or plucking the eyebrows, but for some of us out there hair removal is as simple as threading. If you aren't familiar with the last term I mentioned (threading), that is because threading of the eyebrows is still very new to the United States though this technique has been used in China for many centuries.
The first way to remove eyebrow hairs involves a set of tweezers. Every one is familiar with this method but this doesn't mean you're tweezing the right way! Here are a few tips if this is your preferred method of removing eyebrow hairs. First off, wet the hairs. Pulling hairs out of dry eyebrows can be a pretty painful experience.
Eyebrow threading originates from India and is probably the only way that eyebrows are shaped there. It involves the beautician or whoever is performing the threading to make a loop with a thread and twirl it a couple of times. The loop with the twirls at the center and the sides held by the beautician when applied with light pressure on the area of unwanted hair growth removes hair efficiently.
The styles for brows have changed like the different eras of fashion. Women once completely plucked out all of their eyebrow hairs before penciling in a line for themselves. Additionally, brow shapes have gone from thick to thin and back again, as well as straight or curved or arched. While it is a good idea to work with your natural brow shape, you can edit your brows to enhance your eyes and balance with your facial features.
Threading is a gentle art. It involves precisely twisting a length of cotton thread along unwanted hairs. The twisting action traps the hair and lifts it out of the follicle. Like with tweezing, the results can last up to two to four weeks. With regular treatments, hair re-growth becomes finer and sparser.
Threading is an ancient method of hair removal still used in many countries in the Middle East as well as India and Pakistan. Called khite in Arabic and fatlah in Egyptian, it's a less common method in the West for removing hair at the root. Traditionally, threading is used on the entire face, including upper lip, chin, eyebrows, sideburns and cheeks.
Trends and fashions change every few years and this is also the case with the way that people look. During the early part of the last century women used to draw in their eyebrows after they had shaved the area clean. This was something that was done by the famous actresses of the time and would then be copied by the masses who wanted to feel that they were in vogue.
Eyebrows are one of the most important facial features we have; they frame the face and add shape and balance to all aspects of our face. Eyebrows can help to define our expressions and show our emotions more clearly, though if neglected, our eyebrows can create a sullen, dark and shadowy look on our faces.
