Time To Upgrade To The Blackberry Curve 8910
The popular wireless company, Research in Motion or RIM, has always been known for being the brains behind one of the most recognizable smart phone brands today, the BlackBerry. It has consistently come out with more and more smart phones to add to their existing line to give users more choice. It retains its position as the name to beat when it comes to professional looking, highly efficient smart phones primarily targeted at working people and professionals.
RIM recently released teasers on its latest smart phone, which is called the BlackBerry Curve 8910. Even though there is not a lot of information available on this phone at the moment, this phone looks like a good upgrade to the highly popular and commercially successful Curve 8900, which was offered to the market almost a year ago. For sure, BlackBerry aficionados around the world will be pleased.
A Look at Its Many Features
In the beginning, there were rumors that this mobile phone will be available only in Europe and Asia, although information has leaked in that it will also be sold in the US after a few months. This is still unverified though. There were also rumors that this phone will only have EDGE and will not support 3G connectivity, but this is being debunked by the latest news trickling in.
In fact, this mobile phone comes with the faster evolved EDGE that promises a better user experience, especially with the downlink data speed reaching up to 473 kilobytes per second. That is pretty impressive numbers for a smart phone. It also has GPRS, radio quad-band GSM, evolved EDGE with DLDC, and LatRed support for the connectivity.
This smart phone comes with an approximately 2.4 inch LCD display boasting of a remarkable resolution of 480 x 360 pixels. And even though the brand is not usually associated with entertainment features such as a built-in camera, the BlackBerry Curve 8910 comes with a pretty good 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash and autofocus. It also has a high speed microUSB and Bluetooth 2.1 to make it easier to share and download files with this smart phone.
The goal was to make this one of the most user friendly BlackBerry handsets in the market today, which is why it comes with user configurable keys, dedicated media keys, functional hard keys for volume and even a mute key. This smart phone is UMA supported and offers WiFi connectivity at 802.11 b/g/n. It also has a speaker phone for hands free mobile operation, and 256 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM.
A Look at How it Fares with the 8900
Even though there isn’t an official list of this phone’s specifications, at first glance it is obvious that the most obvious difference with the 8900 is the track pad. This replaces the usual track ball that you’d find in a BlackBerry phone. This addresses the frequent user complaint that the track ball is hard to manipulate.
Waiting for the Official Release
There are rumors that claim the BlackBerry Curve 8910 will be out in Europe and Asia on the first quarter of 2010.
