Still You Run - Though You Cannot See The Finish-Line
You only succeed when you choose to, “choosing to” has nothing to do with strength and everything to do with “the will”. To be prosperous in your chosen activity, you must decide exactly what you want to accomplish, and then resolve the necessary steps required to get it. You are responsible for your circumstances, good or bad, you are responsible. Successful or unsuccessful, happy or sad, fair or unfair, you are responsible, you always have been and you always will be.
Steve Head says that this may not be how you want it to be, but that is how it is. If you don’t like your job, you’re accountable. If your relationships are on the rocks, you’re accountable. If you are overweight, you are accountable. If you don’t trust people easily, you are accountable. If you are not getting the results out of life that you feel you deserve, you are accountable.
Therefore, we must “choose to” be accountable and do the right deeds, allow the right thoughts and we shall prevail. According to Jim Rohn, “we must get good at one of the two things: planting in the spring or begging in the fall.” Never worry when success will come, you’ll discourage yourself, keep doing the right deeds towards every objective.
Those who with the thought of to “try and keep trying” somehow leave room for negativity as they set off in their minds that they are only trying. Those who with the thought of to “do and keep doing” somehow are filled with positivity and a positive mental attitude to arrive at their intended result and most importantly understand the fact that they cannot build a reputation on what they are going to do but on what they set on to actively do. Note, the terms “do and keep doing” embodies success, because what we hope to do with ease, we must learn first and failure is not uncommon in learning new things in order to do and achieve what we want with diligence. Even if we fail or make mistakes, it may turn out to be the one thing necessary to a worthwhile achievement, because success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.
Not many people are willing to give failure or mistake a second opportunity. They fail once and it is all over. The bitter pill of failure is often more than most people can handle. If you are willing to accept failure and learn from it, if you are willing to consider failure as a blessing in disguise and bounce back, you have got the essential of harnessing one of the most powerful success forces. As George Washington said “It’s wonderful what we can do if we’re always doing.”
The emphasis here is to set out and do the steps required with honesty and diligence that you will and must do it right, when one must, one can, aim above the mark to hit the mark. As the proverb goes Actions speak louder than words. This keeps your success pulse alive, the moment you “Will” not to undertake any of your laid out activities, it is a sign that your mind has stopped believing hence the “Will” never acts in the direction the mind believes impossible. We “do” or “do not”, there is no such thing as “trying to”, whatever you are, be a good one and do.
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams, as every latest technology we experience in the present was first conceived in a dream. If you can dream it, you can do it. Be interdependent in achieving your objectives, people who dreamed those dreams carried them to fruition by combining their own efforts with the efforts of others to achieve their greatest success. Follow your dreams and be cognizant of the fact that, the definition of a dreamer, is the person who does not carry his desires or dreams into action. As Bertrand Russell once said "Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric." Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. Great men like Ralph Waldo Emerson have observed the tendencies of an average person when he lamented that “Men talk as if victory were something fortunate. Work is victory.” So go on to do and keep doing!
One only gets to the top rung on the ladder by hanging on and steadily climbing up one at a time, and though you flounder and wonder whether your deeds are adequate to achieve what you want, still you climb, even if you cannot see the finish-line, still you climb. Suddenly, all sorts of powers, all sorts of abilities which you thought never belonged to you - suddenly become within your own possibility.
Oprah says “You CAN have it all. You just can’t have it all at once.” In reality it is in the small decisions you and I make every day that create our destiny, successive positive deeds will render our own success and vice versa. It is for this that we should NOT always be looking outside ourselves for success, strength and confidence, but these things come from within. It is there all the time. So our past is not our potential. In any hour we can choose to liberate the future.
Donald Gardner once said “Do you know what happens when you give a procrastinator a good idea? Nothing!” Because one asks oneself... how soon? One answers oneself... not now! And not now becomes never!
