Electric Hot Wax Melting Pot-Safety
I just can't imagine how anyone who would like to discover how to make candles from home,should do a little research first. Because investing in the right equipment from the beginning would save the candle maker,time,personal energy and increase the possibility for profits. When selecting your new hot wax electric melting pot, make sure it is lined inside and out for easier cleaning. The pot capacity should be five quarts,which is considered by most ideal and when equipped with a solid brass spigot this will keep your wax flowing. If this is not an acceptable possibility for you, then use a pot with similar features and make the needed adjustments to make it safe and easy to work with. Another important tool is your thermometer which will be used through out the entire hot wax melting process.
I am aware of using an electrical hot plate,which can a be very common item for many home owners. However it this is your first or perhaps your only choice,make sure it qualifies to with stand constant electrical use. If you are in doubt look for a new plate with an adjustable heat knob for added personal safety.and for the safety of family,co-workers,children and pets.
When you are finished hot melting for the day,do not leave unused wax in the pot with the anticipation of working the following day because you may have been color blending and forget your secret formula.Resulting in accidental blending the following day ,please clean your pot or pots you will thank yourself when melting again. The temperature of your pot when reached to a high of 250 degrees may cause your wax to smoke,burn or do both.don't forget to adjust the heat down. Concentration is the key for safety when working with hot-heat-melting.When you are in the melting process you can still use the four pot system to enhance your quality control.
