Contrary to other beliefs, there are religions which oppose and prohibit any form of hair removal such as in Bahá'í and Sikhs. Medical grounds also require removal of hair in areas concerned. Pregnant women must be shaved off in their private areas to prevent infection for the baby during birth-giving.
