Norelco T980 Beard Trimmer - Review
If you use Shave-o-Matic, use Shave-o-Matic heads, etcetera. You'll find that some products are actually cross compatible, but it's always a crap shoot. And regardless, even when there is cross compatibility, the two never really, truly "match up". Norelco heads are fitted for Norelco shavers, Acme heads are fitted for Norelco shavers, so don't expect one to always work on the other.
-Know what you're shopping for
You might actually find that the local drug store no longer carries your Norelco replacement heads, so don't expect to be able to grab, say, a replacement head for a Spectra and have it work on your Speed XL Shaver. You may even have to shop online to make sure you get what you're after. Every shaver is really built for a specific purpose, a specific kind of customer, and the shaving heads are likewise specific to their shavers.
-Buy plenty
You never know when an electric shaver is going to be discontinued. Even a great electric shaver might suddenly be discontinued. When Charles Shulz's favorite ink company was going out of business, he bought up the rest of their stock, and it kept him until his passing with plenty left over. Maybe you're not a millionaire like good ol' Chuck, but when you find something that's just perfect for you, you may as well preserve that investment so you don't have to switch to the second-best model when your favorite is discontinued.
-Clean'em out
If you want to spend less money on your head replacements, just make sure to maintain them properly. A shaver head will last much, much longer if you take the time to clean it out after each shave. It's not a big process, just run some cold water through it, give it a good rinse, and it should last you for quite awhile. One of the main reasons to switch to electric from disposable razors is because it's cheaper in the long run, but if you're going through replacement heads just like you used to go through those plastic Bics, you're going to wind up spending about the same.
Many men, just like women, would want to look sharp and well groomed. The speed is probably the first reason why many men prefer it to the common electric razors.
Adjustability. With a beard trimmer, you can regulate your beard as you wish. You want a close shave? You want a longer beard? You want a moustache or sideburns? With a beard trimmer you can do all that without the need of having any other accessory. While with an electric razor you can only shave yourself, with a beard trimmer you can adjust your beard to fit your personality.
Gentleness. After introducing the Norelco T980 inside your bathroom, all of your skin problems linked to shaving will disappear in no time: in fact, this beard trimmer does not have any contact between the blades and the skin, preventing any damage that the razors usually do to the skin (like burns and bumps on the skin). Be careful, because it is not a proper shaver, getting a too close shave will result in painful ingrown hair, so be careful not to overdo it.
