Another common ear problem is a stretched or completely torn earring hole. This can occur as a result of long-term use of heavy earrings, or from a traumatic tearing by an earring. In either case, Dr. John Shamoun repairs the earlobe by numbing the skin and closing the enlarged or torn earring hole. John Shamoun MD is also able to reduce the size of the earlobe or refine its shape if requested by a patient.
Some of his patients complain that their earlobes became longer and "dangly" with age. These elongated earlobes can significantly add to the aged appearance of a face. Earlobes that have stretched with time and gravity can be easily corrected with a few dissolvable stitches either alone using local numbing medication, or as part of a facelift.
