Different Eyebrow Shapes
To achieve the most flattering effect it is important to consider both face shape and eye types. The perfect eyebrow shape is closely related to the actual shape of the face. The basic eyebrow shape is also determined on the bone structure of the face. Below are descriptions and illustrations of eyebrow shapes which are most appropriate for different shaped faces.
One of the first things to remember is that each person's features are very different and so the 'perfect' eyebrow shape will be unique to each individual. The eyebrow has 3 distinct points to its shape, the point adjoining the bridge of the nose, the middle curve and the outer end which tapers to a point. Perfect eyebrows are, in general, are shaped like commas with the last point lining up horizontally to the first, the finer points are different depending on face shape, eye shape and or course personal taste, but the comma shape is a guideline for everyone to start off with.
Threading is getting more and more popular these days and is a very quick, fairly painless experience that gets every hair and a nice clean shape after only 5 minutes. It doesn't pull thin eyelid skin like wax does therefore even if you use this method on a regular basis you are at less rick of damaging the surrounding skin. Make sure you use a reputable salon for this procedure with an experienced threader.
Waxing can be inexpensive if performed at home. A wax kit can cost around forty dollars and can do several treatments. Eyebrow waxing can last four to six weeks. The more often the hair is waxed the thinner it can become. However you will need to allow the hair to grow out to 1/4 of an inch (the wax needs to be able to grab onto the hairs).
High cheek bones can be highlighted with more angular and sharp eyebrows, the further the arch is placed away from the nose, the more emphasis will be placed on the cheek bones. This can add definition and length to the face creating a sleek, lined appearance. Many people are unsure of where the eyebrow should end, if you imagine a ruler drawing a line from the nose to the outside corner of eye, this is where the tail end of the brow should ideally end up.
If your eyebrows are nearly invisible or painfully fine, Try dying them on! Use carefully a dye for eyebrows and make sure you do not get it into or near your eye area as this can be extremely dangerous. Your face is covered in superfluous hairs called lanugo. These baby fine hairs are hard to see and are almost clear. But if you dye them they become visible and you can take advantage of them showing up to form part of your eyebrow arch. Its truly amazing to see a client who never thought they had enough eyebrows to shape suddenly have a frame for their face.
Some people claim that after they've been plucking/waxing their eyebrows for a few months, they become totally immune to the pain. Eyebrow threading is an ancient method of hair removal that is still used in parts of the Middle and Far East. Thin, twisted cotton threads are rolled over untidy hairlines, mustaches and so on, plucking the offending hair. Due to growing popularity in Western countries, threading is now found being performed in beauty salons.
