A Brief Overview of Razor saws
Razor saws are a type of backsaw that comes with various amounts of teeth per inch. These razor saws have fine teeth, usually up to sixty teeth per inch. These tools are primarily used for cutting wood, plastic and metal to a precise depth. The sharp blade cuts the metal deeply and precisely. The blade has a double faced metal edge on top; hence, these tools only fit in particular slot sizes of miter boxes. Choosing a combined set would be a good decision for you if you commonly use razor saws for cutting angled pieces in a miter box.
There are different advantages and disadvantages associated with the usage of razor saws:
Advantages
•They have very thin blade
•They come in a huge assortment of depths and tooth configurations
•Most of these tools are pull saws, primarily working on pull stroke
•Available at reasonable prices and require little or no maintenance
Disadvantages
•These tools work well for straight cuts from the top down.They don't allow users to follow curves.
•Users have to make sure that they work with their miter boxes to acquire correct blade depth
•They need to be stored very carefully to avoid blade warping
It is advised that you purchase higher tooth count blades that leave a smooth finish. Use a set of saws and a miter boxes mainly for precise angled cutting. As far as the protection of the teeth of the razor saws is concerned, store them carefully so that the blade cannot be bent. These tools are very useful for cutting plastic, metal or wood – requiring cuts with a very small kerf.
