As a responsible salon or spa owner you want to provide your clients not only with a great service, but also with an exceptional salon environment that they can feel comfortable and safe in.
Often times this is easier said than done. The jungle of rules and regulations of your board can be very confusing, and in some cases that actually leads to even more neglect of the subject. Who has time these days to continuously research on the rules that apply, and once you've got it all figured out, they are updated and changed...
Needless to say, everybody that has worked in the industry understands your frustration and can relate. There are many things that are easy to do, if you are just aware of them. Naturally though, they are easy "not" to do as well.
Now, it really becomes a problem, if you are the owner of a salon or spa. Then it is not only about you, but about your entire staff. If they mess up and your establishment gets inspected, you are in trouble as well. The board will fine you, too.
But let's not get distracted by the fines that could incur. Even after being in this industry for over 20 years, I still think back to what my favorite educator used to say: "Put yourselves into the shoes of your clients. Would you like to be treated the way that you treat your valued customer? Or is there anything that you could become better at?"
In my opinion there is always room for improvement. There is plenty of literature that is designed to help you stay on top of every aspect of your business.
