Hair Scissors Should Cut Hair, not Money!
Have you ever gone to a hair salon and felt as if you've spent your life savings just to get a trim? Don't spend unnecessarily on a simple hair trim. In today's economy we all (seriously, even our favorite celebs) are looking for a way to save money so don't blow yourself too out of proportion when shopping for the perfect hair scissors to do the job. It is a good idea to have a good quality pair to do the job well but there's no need to spend thousands of dollars on a pair of scissors.
When it comes time for your next trip to the salon, think about your budget. Will you have enough money for an expensive trim? Take a hard look at your spending and figure out if it's worth it to spend money on a simple trim. If not, your next decision is to figure out if you would save more money by splurging on a good quality pair of scissors or by getting your regular six-week haircut.
Once you have determined those few solutions, it's time to make your first move! After deciding to get those quality hair scissors, be sure to do research and find the best pair. Take a look at potential price ranges and determine the quality of hair scissors in that range. One thing to look for in the product is their specific function and remember to always read reviews about them as well. But how do you decide what to buy? Aren't scissors all the same? Absolutely not! Shears vary in size and shape and of course, quality.
Hairdressers usually use shears that are in half-inch increments from 4.5 to 6.5 inches for size. If you want results to be precise, it is recommended that you use scissors that have similar increments. Typically, hair scissors that are longer than 6.5" are barber shears and aren't what you're looking for. Purchase the pair that you think will do the best job on your locks.
One of the most important factors of hair shears is the sharpness of the blade. The hair scissors must be very, very sharp and you can test this by snipping a few locks of a doll's hair. Comb through the doll's hair and cut a few times the way you would do on your own hair. If you feel the hair being cut in your fingers or if you can hear a "snitch, snitch" as you are trimming the doll's hair, it means that your hair scissors are not sharp enough.
Also think about your hands in this situation. It's important to consider your personal comfort when cutting hair because it can make a big difference in the results of your style. This means it's important to find shears that have the correct size and placement of finger holes. If the holes are too small, you could get calluses, leading to discomfort when trimming your hair.
