How to Shave Pubic Hair the Right Way – are Razor Burns Hotter Than Brazilian Wax

Why would anyone want to shave their pubic hair? People have their own reasons for shaving their genital area. Because the matter is of a personal nature their reasons stay private because it is not an everyday topic talked about like the weather. If you tend on shaving your own pubic hair then you need to be careful. You have to approach this quest with utmost caution.

One of the reasons brought to light for shaving off the pubic hair is to do with appearance. Women have their bikini line shaved to rid visible stragglers when wearing a bathing costume. The wearing of a thong or g-string is other reasons for shaving. Pole and exotic dancers are regular pubic hair removers. Perhaps the pubic hair is shaved to please a sexual partner, who knows.

There is no true health reason for having to shave the hair from around the vagina or penis. Even an infestation of pubic lice (

"crabs") requires no pube shaving. Is pubic hair unhygienic? One can relate to this question if the hair is not thoroughly cleaned after peeing or having sexual intercourse. Stale Semen and urine are both unhealthy types of matter if left to cling.

There are several ways to remove pubic hair. Options are shaving - waxing and laser hair removal.

Shaving

1. For health and safety sake you need to use a fresh razor for shaving. Blunt razor blades can cause serious injury.

2. Snip long pubic hair short. Think of this task like as if mowing the lawn. Long grass has to be taken down with a scythe so the mower blades do not jam, snag and stiffen. Sharp scissors, clippers or an electric razor will do the heavy work. Do not rush; speed can cause shaving nicks and cuts. Once the hair is shortened, soak the genital area in warm water or use a damp warm cloth to place over the area and leave for 15 minutes. This helps soften any thick masses. Now lather the pubic area with shaving foam or gel. This helps the razor glide more easily. At any time if you need more lubrication apply more cream or gel. It is to your advantage that the shaving cream/gel is clear or lathers little so you can see what you are doing.

Do not attempt to dry-shave, it is not safe and cause skin scouring. To avoid ingrown hairs, shave in the same direction that the hair grows. Do not repeat shaving over the same spot – you do not want to scrape the skin. Taut the skin, it will help reach those difficult spots. Once the pubic hair has been shaved and rinsed, gently exfoliate with a flannel lathered with a mild gentle soap to cleanse the pores. Once again choose the right soap. Particular cleansers contain ingredients that cause irritation. Some fragrance soaps is not suitable. Apply moisturizer containing Vitamin E. Try rubbing an ice cube over the skin you shaved to close up the pores and then pat the area dry with a clean towel. Follow this with an astringent formula that contains salicylic acid to prevent ingrown hairs.

Waxing

Waxing is a more favored way to remove pubic hair to that of shaving due to the hair taking longer to grow back. Also the hair tends to grow back less coarse. The best advice is to have waxing done by a professional. Home waxing kits can be purchased from a chemist, but you will probably need assistance of a close friend because some particular angles are hard to reach

The process of waxing involves smoothing hot wax on strips of clean cotton cloth. The strips are applied to the pubic area, allowed to dry and then quickly pulled off taking your pubic hair with it. Have a hankie close by because waxing can bring tears to your eyes. A professional waxer will probably tweeze rogue hairs left behind. Moisturize the waxed area with Aloe Vera to prevent irritation. Pubic hair should not be seen sprouting for at least 2/3 weeks.

If you opt for the method of semi-permanent to permanent hair removal and have a few bob in the bank, then laser hair removal may be the ideal source. A laser beam is used to target a square area of hair or a specific hair (depending on which company is doing the removal). The follicle is heated to a temperature that slows down hair growth. After effects from laser hair removal is skin redness and slight swelling.

What is the difference between the Brazilian bikini wax and the regular bikini wax? Basically, with the Brazilian, pubic hair is removed in the front, back & everything in between. Most of the time a 'landing strip' is left in the front.

Brazilian waxing was introduced to New York in 1987 by seven Brazilian-born sisters.

The downside of a Brazilian wax - while it lasts as much as 3 weeks, the hair will grow back & you'll have to do it again, also hair has to be a certain length before it can successfully waxed.

Although the Brazilian wax is popular so is the Hollywood wax known as "waxing Hollywood". The Brazilian bikini wax or Hollywood Wax should be done by a licensed and valid Esthetician. It maybe suggested that you take painkillers to help with the pain. Speak with a consultant in the salon.

The old saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is right. Razor burns and Treatments

1. Use fresh new razors. Gender specific ones are a good bet; Disposable razors are a sensible option and hygienic too. The more times you must go over the same area, the more likely you are to get razor burn – so try to get the shave stroke right so as not have to return to the same spot..

2. Don't rush. The razors weight should be enough pressure to take off the hair. You should not push as tearing of the skin can happen

3. Apply lotions half an hour after showering. This will allow for your pores to close.

4. Treat razor burn with Aloe Vera based products. Aloe Vera allows for protection from the environment and has analgesic qualities that reduce swelling, soothe the irritation, and form a barrier which protects the skin from infection and promotes healing.

5. Cortisone cream will safely treat redness and ease pain.

"Warning" If you need to ask a friend for help because of those out of reach nooks and crannies, then make sure you are both on speaking terms and haven`t had a fallout.
