How to Shave Your Body Part 2 of 2
Recap of information from Part 1: Personal Shavers and trimmers have been becoming more and more sophisticated, allowing for easier use, better hair removal and all of this in the comfort of your home. A lot of shavers out there only talk about hair removal on the genitals, but they can be used on the full body as well. The main word of advice is take it slow, do allow some time to go slowly and safely to get all the hair you want removed, especially the first time
Each section of body hair grows in its own direction; the second word of advice is to always cut in the direction of the hair growth. This will help the re-growth come in fine and help prevent ingrown hairs. Always make sure your skin is dry. It is better to do this before a shower or later in the day if you’ve had a shower, and if you notice any dampness, use a bit of powder to absorb what moisture is there. It is also essential to use powder before the finisher, as this ensures the stubble is sticking up and keeps the skin dry.
The first time using a personal shaver, you will have to use the trimmer to get long hairs down to stubble. Once this has been done, you can use just the finisher as part of your daily grooming.
Chest and Back: Chest hair is easily done by oneself, but back hair can be the most fun, if you have a partner. Make sure the skin is dry before trimming. As there are degrees to how hairy a chest and back are, it is better to start at the top and work your way down. If you are very hairy, working in sections will ensure the best results. Make a 4x4 square and work from one side to the other and then down. It is best if the skin can be pulled tight, easy on the chest, but the back is best achieved by stretching. After all the hair has been trimmed, cover the back with powder and use the finisher in circular motions, back and forth and up and down. Again, this works best if the skin is taut.
After the hair has been trimmed down to stubble, the next step is using a foiled finishing shaver. Using a circular motion, pull the skin taut across all the sections. Use only light pressure, as this will help the finisher work the best.
Armpits, Arms and Legs: Both arms and legs have hair growing in usually one direction. Unlike the lessons learned in shaving, you need to use the trimmer in the direction of the hair growth; this will ensure the hair to grow back fine. Break the job into sections, lower arm and upper arm, lower front leg and lower back leg and upper front leg and lower back leg. If you have shaved recently, the finisher may be the only thing you need to use as the hair in this region doesn’t grow as fast as in some other areas. Make sure and cover with sections with powder and use a circular motion.
Armpits are a place where the hair grows in different ways. Make sure the hair and skin are dry, pull the skin taut and trim the like sections together. Afterwards, put on some powder and use the finisher in a circular motion.
Head: Personal shavers can be used on the face and the head. If you are shaving off a long beard or long hair, it is best to use scissors first to get the hair trimmed to a manageable length, about 1-2 inches. Once that is done, you can use the trimmer to bring the hair to stubble. Just like the rest of the body, put on the powder to the area you are shaving, and use the finisher in a circular motion. Make sure and pull the skin taut and you will have the best and least irritating shaver ever.
