How To Prevent Razor Bumps
In order to prevent the occurrences of razor bumps all over the area shaved, it is essential to shave carefully and use the right shaving products. Yes, shaving can be quite a laborious task and it can be absolutely irritating to shave when you a recovering from a hangover of not enough sleep. However, this does not mean you stay away from the razor, which will only have you looking like a man who belongs to the Stone Age. However, as important as it is to shave, improper shaving can leave behind tons of razor bumps on otherwise spotless skin. To eliminate the chances of an occurrence of razor bumps, there are certain things that you should be doing and there sure are certain things that you shouldn't be doing. Preventing Razor Bumps

Before shaving make it a point to gently scrub your face with a loofah or a facial scrub lotion. Using the loofah or the scrub will help to clean the dead skin cells and ultimately reduces the chances of razor burns and bumps.
- Most men make the mistake of shaving first and then stepping in for a shower. This is really an unsafe practice. To achieve that perfect shave or a one that comes with no ‘bumps' attached, it is best to shave after taking a shower. If you don't want to shower, you can simply wash your face with warm water. A shower and warm water help soften facial skin and facial hair, thus resulting in a cleaner and effortless shave.
- If you are into sports and a whole lot of physical challenges, you probably sweat a lot. In this case, you can put razor bumps at bay by shaving right after you are done with all physical activities, as opposed to shaving before physical challenges of any sort. This is a must to do because sweating quite a lot right after you have shaved can irritate the skin and lead to razor bumps the next time you shave.
- When you shave, use new and sharp razor blades as opposed to ones that are blunt and really need to be discarded. It is a known fact that when you attempt to shave off facial hair with a blunt razor, you are only going to end up with razor burns. Although, disposable razors can be expensive, it is still a must to dispose of them when they need to be disposed. If you don't want to use disposal razors, you can always use the ones that come with blades. The blades come cheaper and can be thrown away without having to worry about the costs.
- Make it a point to shave along the growth of the hair instead of shaving against it which may increase the chances of razor bumps. You may also want to rinse your razor in hot water after each and every stroke.
- Employ short and deliberate strokes when shaving. This will minimize the chances of the occurrence of burns and even the chances of cutting yourself. Long strokes are not recommended, because they will press hard against your skin that may lead to razor bumps.
- After the final rinse, dip your razor into alcohol. This will help sterilize your razor for future use.
- Once you are done with the whole process of shaving, wash your face well with cold water. This will help you get rid of the shaving cream and will also leave behind great and fresh looking skin! You may also want to use a moisturizing lotion after you are done washing your face. This will help provide your skin with much needed moisture and also eliminate the chances of razor bumps.
